Abstract |
|
|
An overview of the present-day theoretical and computational models developed to study infrared radiative properties of various semi-transparent dispersed materials with a special attention to the advanced porous materials is presented. Both traditional and novel physical models and computational tools used to identify and analyze spectral radiative properties of semi-transparent scattering media are discussed in some details. Several practical examples of various dispersed materials such as fused quartz containing gas bubbles, polymer foam insulation, light-weight quartz fibrous material, and low-porosity zirconia ceramics are considered. It is illustrated how to employ the discussed models to determine near-infrared properties of advanced thermal insulations and other materials of particular interest in engineering.
