Abstract |
|
|
Polymer-based photocoupling surfaces, based on perfluorophenyl azide (PFPA) and polyallyamine (PAAm), have been developed for the efficiency of immobilization of nanoparticles, graphene, and small carbohydrate molecules. The surface was fabricated by first attaching PAAm on PFPA-surface by photoactivation. The density of amino groups on the immobilized PAAm surface was determined to be 33.8/nm2. Subsequent reaction with N-hydroxysuccinimide-derivatized PFPA gave the PAAm-PFPA surface. The functionalized surfaces were characterized by ellipsometry, contact angle goniometry and ATR-FTIR. The PAAm-PFPA surfaces were subsequently used to covalently immobilize silica nanoparticles, graphene flakes and a disaccharide by a simple procedure of coating the material on the PAAm-PFPA surface followed by UV irradiation. The resulting surfaces were characterized using ellipsometry, AFM, optical microscopy. The disaccharide surface was further evaluated by treating the surface with a fluororescent lectin.
