Abstract |
|
|
Molybdenum trioxide (MoO3) was prepared and further coated with carbon by using malic acid as carbon source through hydrothermal treatment. The obtained MoO3 consisting of numerous nanofibers (50~80 nm in diameter), was identified with mesoporous characteristics, and then modified with well-proportioned carbon layers of ~10 nm in thickness. The electrochemical performances of bare and C-coated MoO3 were compared as cathode materials in Li test cells. Electrochemical measurements disclosed significant enhancement in the electrochemical performances of C-coated MoO3, and also the pseudocapacitive effect of nanostructures brought high-rate capability to the electrode materials. Carbon-coated nanostructures can effectively improve the electrochemical performances of Li ion battery materials.
