  Abstract
Silver films were grown in vacuum and helium ambience using pulsed laser deposition (PLD) and their optical responses were studied. Effect of different PLD process parameters for obtaining surface plasmon resonance (SPR) excitation in the optical response of the grown films was determined. Plasmon resonance characteristics of the grown nanoparticle films were greatly influenced by substrate temperature, target to substrate distance and number of laser pulses in PLD. Room temperature grown films were associated with red shifted SPR wavelength in comparison to those grown at high temperatures. Films which have shown strong plasmon resonance in the optical response consisted of densely packed nanoparticles. By varying the process parameters the plasmon resonance wavelength was tuned between 440-600 nm.
