Pokutnyi, A. M. Shut G.V. Kurdyumov Institute for Metal Physics, NAS of Ukraine. 36, Acad. Vernadsky Bevd, UA – 03680 Kiev – 142, Ukraine Abstract The interband absorption of light in a small semiconductor microcrystal is studied theoretically in the dipole approximation. An expression is obtained for the light absorption coefficient under conditions where the polarization interaction of the electron and a hole with the surface of the microcrystal plays a large role.
