Abstract |
|
|
The electrochemical behavior of tris(2,2´-bipyridine)ruthenium(II), [Ru(bipy)3]2+ (further denoted as 1) was examined on thin film consisting of nitrogen-doped multi-walled carbon nanotubes (N-MWCNTs). The N-MWCNTs were selectively grown on oxidized silicon substrate by means of chemical vapor deposition technique with decomposition of acetonitrile in the presence of catalyst. The electrochemical oxidation of 1 on N-MWCNTs is reversible and occurs at potential significantly less anodic compared to that on conventional electrodes. The enhanced electrochemical response, great detection ability (0.832 µM) and sensitivity (0.2405 A·M-1·cm-2) of N-MWCNTs towards 1 can be attributed to the improved electro-catalytic activity of carbon nanotubes incorporated with nitrogen.
