Abstract |
|
|
We report 2?2 and 3?3 optical beam splitters with ultrasmall coupling region assembled by twisting flexible poly(trimethylene terephthalate) (PTT) nanowires. The coupling region of the 2?2 splitter is 1.16-?m wide and 2-?m long, and that of the 3?3 splitter is 1.23-?m wide and 12-?m long. The measured excess loss of the splitters is 0.6 to 0.75 dB. For a specific operation wavelength and/or input branch, desirable splitting ratios can be obtained and tuned by changing the input/output branching angles.
