Abstract |
|
|
This article reviews the chronological history of geographic information system (GIS) used by various decision makers for land suitability, particularly for selecting sanitary landfill sites as part of urban planning. Therefore, this study can easily be categorized into two scenarios: the developments in landfill technology over the last three decades and the advances in analytical hierarchy process (AHP) and GIS integration in landfill applications. Some significant questions can be raised from aggregate related articles published in international journals from 1990 to 2010, including which criteria of the hierarchy have gained more focus from experts and which approach has been the most prevalently applied.
