Abstract |
The success of cisplatin in the treatment of a wide spectrum of solid tumors has stimulated the search of novel coordination compounds as potential anticancer drugs. More recently, some other compounds of platinum, gallium, ruthenium and arsenic are being used in clinical practice or have entered clinical trials.
In this article, we review the cellular targets and the cytotoxic action of some of those antitumoral coordination compounds in relation to their uptake in tumoral cells.
