Abstract |
|
|
Intestinal obstruction is a frequently encountered surgical entity. The signs & symptoms, many a times, are suggestive of the level of obstruction, making the diagnosis of obstruction evident. There are various causes of intestinal obstruction which diversify to an enormous extent stamping on the famous paradigm for the mysterious nature of the abdomen being referred to as the Pandora’s Box. Congenital internal abdominal hernias are rarely diagnosed because of the nonspecific symptomatology and the possibility of intermittent spontaneous reduction. Detailed physical examination and choosing appropriate diagnostic procedures assist in achieving correct preoperative diagnosis, thereby contributing towards an adequate as well as timely surgical or conservative approach. We report our experience of two such cases with a review of the relevant literature.
