Abstract |
|
|
The scope of this introductory review is to present an overview of the subject of remote sensing for agricultural applications. Numerous books have been written on this subject, and dozens of related papers are been published monthly. Obviously, reviewing such a topic in a rather short paper is difficult and perhaps controversial. We have chosen to present a somewhat critical evaluation of the field and question its future development. We present, using examples, the technology of remote sensing and some of its most important applications in agriculture. We do not attempt to cover all relevant technologies and applications. We wish to draw the readers' attention to other technologies which are being developed in parallel, and which might successfully replace, at least in part, remote sensing.
